What is a Toothache?
A toothache is any pain or soreness within or around a tooth or the jaw. The most common cause of toothache is dental cavities. Bacteria in the mouth can form plaques that stick to teeth and form acids that eat through tooth enamel, causing a cavity. This toothache pain is usually worse when you eat cold or hot food.
Home Remedies for Toothache

Some of the most common home remedies for toothaches recommend using non-edible substances as topical analgesics. Clove oil is particularly valued as a topical oral analgesic due to its antiseptic and numbing qualities. It is recommended that a few drops of clove oil be mixed into a base of about three times as much olive oil. This oil mixture should be soaked up by a cotton ball, which is then placed in the mouth next to the culprit tooth. Clove oil should never be swallowed, and may cause burning and injury if applied un-diluted.
Onion:
Onion contains antibacterial properties, and chewing on a raw onion for a little as three minutes is usually sufficient to kill all of the germs in the mouth, decreasing the pain caused by infection in the tooth. Place a small amount of onion directly on the aching tooth or gum for relief of pain.
If nothing seems to work for the time-being, then applying an ice pack on the tooth from the outside can provide temporary relief.
Munching on green leafy vegetables is also a good way of solving toothache problems. If done daily, then this will prevent any tooth cavities in the future.
There are also remedies that you can do without numbing your mouth. You just have to go to your kitchen and make something for yourself to reduce the pain. A clove of garlic with a pinch of salt mixed together should do the trick.
